"Death Mask, a perfect three and a half minute slab of darkness, with all the catchy guitar lines you need to keep a dancefloor moving, backed with Funeral Eyes, an atmospheric downbeat pop tune that makes this a 'proper' single, one you should own" ~ DJ Martin Oldgoth

"Todd and Alex know they can do whatever they want, because duos bounce off each other creatively in endless variety, just as trios find they have innately perfect power thrust. Bat Nouveau also have an edge to anything settled or conspiratorial so when they've established they have a vein to mine they do so with precision. Their music is growing in stature, boasting clearer lines, boosted beauty, extra agitation and greater vocal power. There's a new bat in town!" ~ Mick Mercer

"a potent blend of pre to mid 80s Cure with the sonic presence of Big Black. Whatever the sonic equivalent of overworking smoke machines might be, this is at close as it gets." ~ DJ Cruel Britannia

"Bat Nouveau is sounding Amazing -"Death Mask" is Sure to get the Dancefloor Moving, And "Funeral Eyes" is GothPsych Radness" ~ Tony X

about

”Death Mask/Funeral Eyes” represents a departure from the raw, aggressive direction of Bat Nouveau’s previous EP, “What Has Been Now” (2012), in favour of a stripped-back, sparse and brittle post-punk route. The lead track, “Death Mask”, deals with themes of political self-interest and the abuse of power, while the band describe the b-side as “a surreal lovesong”. The record is a self-released 7” single on purple vinyl, in a limited edition of 170 copies. “
